Behind the counter at Sunday’s Ice Cream

I'm Mike Boutin, owner of Sunday’s Ice Cream in Milford, New Hampshire. I make every batch myself. I wanted a business I could be proud of, and ice cream brings people joy.

Working Realities

Daily operations, not theory

I learned some lessons the hard way. My biggest location mistake was choosing a shop without a big parking lot. Then I waited a couple of months for the health inspector's approval. The work behind the counter starts long before the first customer walks in.

We opened two days after Christmas, in the middle of winter. People thought we were crazy. But I'd been sharing the shop on social media, posting in local groups and putting up a banner before opening. We had a line out the door, and our first three winter months were some of our busiest. That's the experience behind this free guide, the Academy and the Scoop Marketing Club.
